Ms. Angela
Angela Schmitt is the founder and music director of Vineyard Artists. A trained pianist, French horn performer, composer, and educator, Angela brings her diverse musical background and love of creativity into the Music Orchard classroom.
Today, she focuses her teaching at Vineyard Artists on Music Orchard, creating playful and meaningful early music experiences for young children.
A Little About Ms. Angela
Angela earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance from the University of Toronto before moving to Boston, where she completed her Master of Music in Brass Performance at Boston University in 2017.
As a musician, Angela has performed with orchestras, chamber ensembles, and pit orchestras throughout the Greater Boston area, including the New England Film Orchestra, Firebird Pop Orchestra, Quincy Symphony Orchestra and Mystic Brass Ensemble.
Her musical interests also extend to composition. Angela has composed original soundtracks for multiple independent film projects, bringing together her love of music, storytelling, and creativity.
The Story Behind Vineyard Artists
Angela founded Vineyard Artists in 2019 with a vision of creating a warm and welcoming place where children could experience music and art with curiosity, creativity, and joy.
Since then, she has devoted herself to creating an environment where children are encouraged to explore, express themselves, build confidence, and develop a genuine love of music.
As Music Director, Angela helps shape the educational approach and programs at Vineyard Artists, with an emphasis on joyful learning, strong musical foundations, creativity, and personalized growth.
Her Teaching Approach
Angela believes young children learn best when structure and play work together.
She introduces musical concepts step by step while giving children plenty of opportunities to move, sing, imagine, create, and explore. Rather than expecting every child to learn in exactly the same way, she pays attention to each child’s personality and development and adapts the learning experience accordingly.
Most importantly, she wants children to feel that music is something they can enjoy, understand, and make their own.
Beyond the Classroom
Angela’s background as a pianist, French horn performer, and composer gives her a broad musical perspective that she brings into Music Orchard.
Her experiences with classical music, ensembles, and film composition help her introduce children to music not simply as notes on a page, but as a world of sound, movement, imagination, and expression.
