Jeffrey Chew is a cellist and educator who believes that every student brings their own learning style, musical goals, and potential to the cello.

Through personalized instruction, strong technical foundations, and encouraging guidance, he helps students develop both their skills and the confidence to express themselves through music.

A Little About Mr. Jeffrey

Jeffrey graduated from Boston University with a dual degree in Cello Performance and Computer Science.

During his studies at Boston University, he trained with renowned cellists Marc Johnson, Rhonda Rider, and Hyun-Ji Kwon. He previously studied with Carol Ou at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School.

His background brings together focused musical training with a thoughtful and well-rounded perspective—something that also shapes the way he approaches teaching and learning.

Jeffrey has been an active performer throughout his musical career.

He has performed with the Boston University Symphony and Chamber Orchestra, the Reading Symphony Orchestra, and ensembles at the New England Conservatory.

An avid chamber musician, Jeffrey has also participated in numerous chamber groups, giving him extensive experience making music collaboratively with other musicians.

Jeffrey works with students of all levels and thoughtfully designs lessons around each student’s individual learning style and musical goals.

He believes that a strong technical foundation provides students with the tools they need to grow, while attentive guidance and encouragement help them develop confidence along the way.

His goal is to help students build solid cello skills while discovering meaningful ways to express themselves through music.
